The New Year is a time for looking forwards, and for looking back. This year, NTEX are celebrating 18 years on the road (and sea, and air). It’s been a journey in the fast lane, so buckle up and join us as we travel back to a quiet office in Stockholm in 2003.
How Did It All Begin?
The UK and Scandinavian countries have always shared a close cultural relationship, with trading links that date back over 1000 years. In 2003, ten experts gathered together to collaborate and breathe new life into the networks. Our aim was to become a unique transport alternative with a specific focus on high service levels, ensuring that every barrier to efficient trade with the UK was eliminated. Our mission was to work with local contacts to make Nordic trade competitive, flexible, and fully customisable using land, sea, and air transport options.
The Journey So Far
The story of NTEX is a tale of sustained growth. Part of this is simply due to demand. With its attractive trade options, excellent transport networks, and high levels of efficiency, Scandinavia has rapidly become a go-to destination for European trade. Part of the story is our unique specialisation, enabling NTEX to offer services and insight that general hauliers cannot provide. Equally important has been our efforts in expanding, which has increased options and flexibility for clients.
Stand-out moments include the acquisition of Ecotrans AB in 2006, Ecotrans LTD in 2007, VTS AB and Davis Freight in 2009, and Gothic AB in 2008. With these, NTEX was able to solidify a comprehensive transport network and earn International Air Transport Association (IATA) certification. By 2015, NTEX had grown to have offices throughout Europe, inviting more than 250 skilled individuals to become part of our logistics family. As such, we have been able to offer multiple cost-effective solutions in the wake of seminal events such as Brexit.
Where Are We Going Next?
Sustainability has always been central to the NTEX mission, and we have plans to offer even more in that regard. Our transport fleets already use technologies such as real-time tracking to optimise routes, and we operate energy-efficient vehicles and warehouses.
In 2003, the UK and our Scandinavian destination countries were all full EU members (apart from Norway, which is still part of the EU Single Market for goods), and it was almost inconceivable that the UK would ever leave the EU. Sadly, this is no longer the case. However, over the past couple of years we have put systems in place to enable seamless trade to continue between the UK and EU following Brexit, with competitive prices and a full import/export paperwork support service to enable fast, on-time deliveries.
In 2022 and beyond, we hope to see more improvements as we shift to cleaner transport options and embrace new innovations. At NTEX, we plan to find even more ways to maximise transport space, enabling us and our clients to drive, sail, and fly towards a greener, cleaner future.
A Message From Our Team
We’ve come a long way in the last 18 years, and every mile of tarmac represents a delivery that had meaning to us and to you. This is a shared journey, so we would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has joined us along the way. As we head into the future, our promise is to continue to grow our network so that this crucial trade route remains one of the best in the world. From our whole team, we wish you a very happy, safe, and prosperous new year.
